Section Ⅴ Translations(10 points)
Directions: In this section there is a passage in English.
Translate the five sentences underlined into Chinese and

We wish peace, but we wish the peace of justice, the peace 
of righteousness. We wish it because we think it is right 
and not because we are afraid. (71) No weak nation that 
acts manfully and justly should ever have cause to fear us,

conditions which have told for our marvelous material well-
being, which have developed to a very high degree our 
energy, self-reliance, and individual initiative, have also 
brought the care and anxiety inseparable from the 
accumulation of great wealth in industrial centers. Upon 
the success of our experiment much depends, not only as 
regards our own welfare, but as regards the welfare of 
mankind. If we fail, the cause of free self-government 
throughout the world rock to its foundation, and therefore 
our responsibility is heavy, to ourselves, to the world as 
it is today, and to the generations yet unborn.(75)there is 
no good reason why we should fear the future, but there is 
every reason why we should face it seriously, neither 
hiding from ourselves the gravity of the problems before us 
nor fearing to approach these problems with the unbending, 
unflinching purpose to solve them aright.

We often heard people say that Lei Feng’s spirit is out of 
style in today’s society. With the development of 
commodity economy in our coutry, these people try their 
best to seek practical tings, such as money, comfortable 
life, etc. To them nothing is more important than those 
practical things. Friendship, companionship, etc, should be 
throw far away.

But we often hear many other people say that the spirit of 
Lei Feng will shine forever. The spirit of Lei Feng has 
such a strong effect on people’s ideas, values and ways of 
life that in every field of society there arise countless 
“living Lei Fengs”, who follow the example of Lei Feng 
and serve the people heart and soul.

In my opinion, the spirit of Lei Feng will never go out of 
style. Instead, it will be carried forward. Today more and 
more “living Lei Fengs” appear before us from all walks 
of life. Among them is Jiao Yulu, Kong Fansen, etc. The 
spirit of Lei Feng—an unselfish spirit will always 
encourage the Chinese people to go forward.
